Madlanga Inquiry: 3 witnesses to testify remotely this week

The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry resumes on Monday morning with partial in-camera hearings at the Brigitte Mabandla Justice College in Pretoria.

Three witnesses will testify remotely, with their voices audible, over the next two days.

Last week, Witness X gave sensitive testimony related to police operations during a closed session.

Witnesses A, B and C will appear before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry between Monday and Tuesday.

The witnesses, who form part of a team investigating criminal cartels operating in Gauteng, will testify remotely, with their voices broadcast live for public distribution.

In a statement on Sunday, commission spokesperson, Jeremy Michaels, confirmed that the three were serving detectives, attached to either the Gauteng Counterintelligence operations unit or the Political Killings Task Team.

Evidence leaders are expected to explain on Monday why the hearings are being held partially in-camera.
