Police have retracted their statement and have confirmed that seven teenagers have been involved in a shooting incident in Westbury, Johannesburg on Tuesday afternoon.

Two have died while five are receiving medical attention at a nearby hospital.

According to police. the teenagers were approached by four suspects on foot carrying firearms and shot at the victims several times.

Forensic teams are currently running their investigations around Croesus Street and inside one of the houses where the shooting took place.

There is heavy police presence, as they try to get sense of what really took place.

But Eyewitness News understands that historically, Westbury is an area riddled with gang violence, and according to the community and the police, they are not ruling our gang-related violence.

Next to the house is a tuck-shop connected to a home where we heard shouting and screaming from the owner, who blamed the police for their late arrival to the incident.
