A hot day is on the cards for Cape Town on Wednesday.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a warning of extremely uncomfortable conditions for parts of the Western Cape.
Highs of between 30 and 40 degrees Celsius are expected in places over the West Coast, as well as Swellendam and the Hessequa municipalities.
The City of Cape Town’s disaster management centre said the heat also poses a risk of possible fires.
"The conditions that have been forecast can also promote the spread of fires, so we ask that everyone please be vigilant and report any sign of fire to the city’s public emergency communications centre on 021 480 7700," said the city’s Sonica Lategan.
