Bronkhorstspruit taverns shooting : Sole survivor recalls chaos of killings

A woman who witnessed the fatal shooting at a tavern in Zithobeni, in Bronkhorstspruit, has spoken out about her harrowing experience.

Deliwe Nkabini said that while she and her brother escaped unharmed, she watched as her boyfriend was killed.

She was at the Bronkhorstspruit Court on Thursday afternoon, where the man arrested for the shooting was due to make his first appearance.

Five people were killed in the shooting incident at Qedukoma Tavern earlier this month.

Nkabini vividly recalls the mayhem of that tragic night.

"We heard gunshots, and it was chaos," she recounted. "I covered my face, screaming, then I saw my brother from afar, also on the floor, trying to call me to come to him, and I saw blood coming out of his mouth."

She said she then saw her partner on the floor.

"When I opened my eyes, I saw bullets just firing at him," she said. "Before we managed to run away, dragging my brother."
