Operations have returned to normal at the V&A Waterfront after a fire at the Clock Tower precinct on Friday morning.
Fire services, along with V&A Waterfront management, have confirmed the blaze started on the roof of a restaurant.
The City’s Fire and Rescue Services said the fire has since been contained and no injuries have been reported.
Trading has resumed at the V&A Waterfront after a fire on a rooftop caused some panic.
Eyewitnesses say fire was seen coming from an extractor fan unit above a restaurant near the Clock Tower Precinct.
Staff gathered outside told EWN they were instructed to evacuate the premises.
Cape Town Fire Services have confirmed the blaze was extinguished before their teams arrived at the scene.
A clerk from a neighbouring store recounts the events.
"I looked outside the shop window, and just saw billowing clouds of smoke and flames. We were asked to evacuate the shop, simultaneously, there was an alarm that went off and we left the area."
For now, both restaurants remain closed until further notice.
