Phase 2A of the MyCiTi construction resumes between Wetton Circle and Jan Smuts Drive on Tuesday.
The upgrade along Govan Mbeki Road will reduce traffic to a single lane in both directions between Wetton Circle and Low Road.
This means longer travel times and traffic snarl-ups for some motorists and commuters.
Mayco Member for Urban Mobility Rob Quintas said the upgrades will be worth the wait.
"These works may add to congestion, but they are crucial to delivering, safe, affordable and reliable MyCiTi bus service that residents along this corridor have been waiting for."
