Joburg public safety dept to intensify safety operations ahead of festive season

The Johannesburg public safety department is intensifying its safety operations in preparation for the festive season. 

MMC Mgcini Tshwaku briefed the media in Johannesburg on Wednesday on plans for the Johannesburg Metro Police Department and emergency services.

Tshwaku said this update also served as a way to inform the public of their challenges and achievements since November last year to date.

Tshwaku added that the festive season was a critical period known for higher rates of crime.

"Through targeted crime prevention initiatives and strategic resources deployment, we are to manage this seasonal increase in criminal activity and enhance community safety."
