Deputy President Paul Mashatile has stated that authorities must leave no stone unturned as they investigate the true cause of death for former African National Congress (ANC) leader Chief Albert Luthuli.
Mashatile welcomed the Pietermaritzburg High Court's ruling on Thursday that found Luthuli’s death was not an accident. The Nobel Peace Prize laureate died in 1967.

An initial inquest concluded that he was struck by a goods train in Groutville, and no one was ever held responsible.
Mashatile reacted to the judgment while responding to oral questions in the National Assembly.
He said: "Just to welcome [the] decision of [the] PMB [Pietermaritzburg] Court in making a decision that [the] death of our former President Chief Luthuli was not an accident. We welcome that and I do hope that the authorities will leave no stone unturned to get to the truth."
