Acting Ekurhuleni Mayor Jongizizwe Dlabathi has labelled crime in Reiger Park as uncontrollable.

This strong reaction follows the tragic killing of six people in the area over the weekend.

The mayor told residents that the local police station would receive more resources to bolster crime prevention.

He is visiting the families of the deceased on Monday.

While there have not yet been any arrests made, Acting Mayor Dlabathi said that a team from the province was assisting with investigations. He has urged the public to come forward with any information they may have to assist.

"We should say that prevention is better than cure. Something must be done in the area and across the city of Ekurhuleni to make sure the communities are safe and there’s little space for this to transpire."
