Embattled Crime Intelligence boss Dumisani Khumalo is set to resume his testimony on Wednesday morning before the Madlanga Commission.
On Tuesday, Khumalo suggested that the search-and-seizure operation by members of Gauteng counterintelligence and the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) at the home of Sandton businessman Katiso “KT” Molefe in 2024 was a highly secretive operation, and that they kept the Hawks in the dark about it on purpose.

It previously emerged before the commission that members of the Hawks arrived at Molefe’s Sandhurst mansion after receiving information that the operation was being carried out by bogus police
Khumalo said the interference proved what they already knew – that certain officials within the Hawks were compromised and alleged to be working with the Big Five cartel.
“There is an individual, a Zungu, that is from TOMS [Tactical Operations Management Section] of DPCI [Hawks], that is working with the cartel. So, even before the takedown, we had that red flag that we need to protect the investigation from DPCI.”
