After a 17-year court battle, Vodacom and "Please call me" inventor, Nkosana Makate, have reached a settlement agreement.

The telecommunications giant released a statement on Wednesday night announcing the settlement.

Makate and Vodacom were set to continue battling it out in the supreme court in November, after the Constitutional Court failed to make a conclusive finding in July.

Makate took Vodacom to court over compensation over the Please Call Me product.
