A fire is raging in the mountains above Ashton in the Cape Winelands District Municipality.
The blaze started on Friday and is burning in a broken line along the mountain peaks of Kogmanskloof.
Firefighting teams are on site.
Spokesperson for the municipality, Jo-Anne Otto, said the fire was burning through very old fynbos on CapeNature property.
"Due to the dense and aged vegetation, aerial resources remain ineffective, and teams are relying on manual firefighting methods. This is a challenging and ecologically sensitive area, requiring careful management to protect both biodiversity and the safety of its personnel."
Meanwhile, a fire that was burning in Lanquedoc has been contained.
Authorities continue to monitor, and mopping-up operations will continue throughout the day.
