The Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC)'s head of operations, Matthews Sesoko, was kidnapped and robbed of his digital devices on Friday night.

Sources close to the investigation confirmed to EWN that Sesoko was released safely around 2am.

It's understood that he was accosted by suspects in Pretoria, with his vehicle found still idling on a secluded portion of the R25 road in Kempton Park in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Sesoko's state cellphones and laptop were taken during the incident.

This comes in the wake of the testimony given by IDAC's head, Andrea Johnson, before Parliament's ad hoc committee this week.

Sesoko dealt with the investigation that led to the arrest of Crime Intelligence head, Dumisani Khumalo, and six other senior Crime Intelligence officials in June.
