The Jacob Zuma Foundation has again accused the State of abusing its power as the trial against Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla is set for day one on Monday.

The trial is expected to run for the next two weeks at the Durban High Court in KwaZulu-Natal.

Zuma-Sambudla is charged with incitement to commit public violence and terrorism related charges for her alleged role in the July 2021 unrest.

More than 300 people died during the riots in KZN and Gauteng, while the damage to infrastructure and looting cost the economy billions of rands.

The Jacob Zuma Foundation said the charges against the daughter of its patron, Jacob, are a political ploy.

The foundation said her father, the former president, is actually the State’s target and that his children are being prosecuted for their association with him.

The foundation has even gone as far as labelling it as the harassment of Zuma and his children.

Zuma-Sambudla, who was released on warning in January, will return to the dock for the long-awaited trial.
