The Judicial Commission into Truth and Reconciliation (TRC) cases said the delay in proceedings is in the interest of the hearings.
On Monday, the commission was set to begin but proceedings stalled.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and the Department of Justice informed the commission of the intention to apply for a recusal for chief evidence leader Advocate Ishmael Semenya.
Both have flagged Semenya’s involvement because he has previously acted as an advisor for the NPA and has represented them in TRC-related cases.
The commission has agreed to give them until 26 November 2025 to make representations.
“Unfortunately, we consider this an unfortunate delay, but this is in the best interest. Until we see what they are arguing and what certain departments and entities are saying, then we will know how to deal with it,” said spokesperson Lionel Ardendoff.
