The fight against gun violence has been called into question following a bloody day in Cape Town.
At least seven people were killed in separate shootings across the metro on Wednesday.

However, it's not isolated, as the city deals with shootings on a daily basis and in the past week, there've also been two triple murders in Delft and Philippi.
Detectives have spent the day combing several scenes in various parts of Cape Town.
At the Nyanga taxi rank, two people were killed and eight were wounded when several gunmen randomly shot at a minibus shortly after 10am.
Three people were also found dead in a vehicle in Montclair in Mitchells Plain on Wednesday morning, and there were fatal shootings in Heideveld and Manenberg.
The gun violence has evoked reaction from the Democratic Alliance (DA)'s parliamentary police committee chairperson, Ian Cameron, who's argued that giving municipal law enforcement more policing powers will help.
"SAPS has very little to show for real development and success over the long term with regards to fighting the scourge of violence. So why would they not give more policing powers."
He said that calls for the devolution of policing powers has been politicised, instead of focusing on the well-being of innocent people.
