A decision is yet to be made on an application by prosecutors to centralise all the charges against alleged underworld figure Katiso “KT” Molefe.

Molefe made a brief appearance in the Alexandra Magistrates Court on Tuesday, alongside co-accused, Musa Kekana and Tiego Mabusela.

He appeared shortly after another alleged crime boss, Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala, appeared in the same court, where Kekana and Mabusela are also co-accused.

While Molefe and Matlala are being tried separately for different matters, the State believes they used the same hitmen to carry out hits.

It’s alleged Kekana and Mabusela were contracted by Molefe to murder Vereeniging engineer Armand Swart, Oupa Sefoka, known as DJ Sumbody, and Hector Buthelezi, known as DJ Vintos.

But the State alsobelieves they were behind the botched hits allegedly called by Matlala on his socialite girlfriend, Tebogo Thobejane, and musician Seunkie Mokubung, known as DJ Wetties.

While the matters involving Matlala have been transferred to the Johannesburg High Court for trial, prosecutors are still awaiting approval from the Director of Public Prosecutions in Johannesburg for Molefe’s cases to be centralised and transferred to the High Court for trial.

Molefe will return to the Alexandra Magistrates Court in December, where prosecutors will give an update to the court.
