MK Party: Adjournment of Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla's incitement case a 'delaying tactic'

The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has described the adjournment of the incitement case against Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla as a "delaying tactic".

Zuma-Sambudla's trial was adjourned until next Monday to allow the State to consult further witnesses.

The daughter of former President Jacob Zuma returned to the Durban High Court on Wednesday for what was meant to be the third day of the trial. The trial was originally set down to run for two weeks.

What was meant to be day three of the 10-day trial was cut short after State Prosecutor Advocate Yuri Gangai indicated he needed to consult with witnesses.

The MK Party said that this delay alone showed the State was not ready to prosecute.

The party's national spokesperson, Nhlamulo Ndhlela, questioned the State's readiness.

"So this is a fatal, complete case. What more witnesses do they need? Are they telling us that after four years, they couldn’t identify other witnesses? They don’t have witnesses four years later?"

Ndhlela maintained that the case was politically motivated and that the prosecution had no case.
