Suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu’s chief of staff, Cedric Nkabinde, has told Parliament how he lost his job at the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) after falling out with its former head Robert McBride.

He's giving evidence about his relationship with Mchunu and his involvement in alleged police interference.
Nkabinde told the ad hoc committee investigating police corruption on Thursday that he left IPID after blowing the whistle on misconduct implicating McBride, and investigator Paul O’Sullivan in his report that he sent to then Police Minister Bheki Cele.
“The very same report ended in up in the hands of McBride, which he got very upset with the content where the report was implicating him in particular and Paul O’Sullivan. In that report, he got so upset with and suspended me immediately.”
