Johannesburg motorists are advised that major routes will be temporarily closed this weekend as part of security and traffic management operations ahead of the upcoming G20 Leaders' Summit.
The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC), in coordination with provincial and Joburg’s Metro Law Enforcement agencies, will be overseeing the closures on Saturday, 15 November 2025, between 09:00 and 13:00.
Motorists are strongly urged to use alternative routes to avoid significant delays.
JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla confirmed that clear signage and real-time updates will be provided to guide road users.
"Law enforcement agencies within Gauteng and this includes the Road Traffic Management Corporation, Gauteng Traffic Police, Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department and South African Police Services wish to inform all motorists and residents in Gauteng that a coordinated joint operation will take place on the 15th of November 2025 resulting in temporary road closures, lane restrictions and intermittent disruptions across key routes," Fihla stated.
The coordinated operation forms part of heightened security measures in preparation for the G20 Summit, which is scheduled to take place from 22-23 November, 2025.
