Aucamp replaces Dion George, who was fired as the minister of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment, while Abrahams will be sworn in as the deputy minister of Trade, Industry and Competition.

Nearly six months after Ramaphosa fired the DA’s Andrew Whitfield as trade and industry deputy minister, Abrahams has finally been appointed as his replacement.

Whitfield was removed from office in June after undertaking an international trip without the president's approval.

George, on the other hand, was recalled from his ministerial position by his political party.

DA leader John Steenhuisen has since denied that George’s recall was due to underperformance.

Abrahams and Aucamp are set to be sworn in at the Union Buildings.
