An Australian man who goes by the name of Pyjama Man has been sentenced to nine days in jail for rushing at Ariana Grande and throwing his arms around her. The incident happened last week while she was on the yellow carpet for the Asia premier of Wicked: For Good.
Grande's co-star Cynthia Erivo who was walking with her - intervened.
947's Zweli says the man's birth name is Johnson Wen and he's a self-proclaimed stage invader. "He's documented a history of him disrupting major events: Katy Perry's concert, The Weeknd's performance in Melbourne...
"And his actions have actually caused significant disruptions as well to sporting events. Just last year at the Paris 2024 Olympics the men's 100 metre final had to be delayed because this miscreant invaded the track," says Zweli.
He added that Grande looked terrified when Wen stormed her.
The singer survived a terrorist attack at her concert in Manchester in 2017. Twenty-two people died and hundreds more were injured by a suicide bomber.
"Her anxiety peaked at that time and she almost stopped music and we're grateful that she's back because she's one of the best in the world," says Zweli.
