The trial against uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party Member of Parliament (MP) Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla returns to the Durban High Court on Monday.
She faces two counts of public violence and another of incitement to commit terrorism linked to the deadly July 2021 unrest.
The State is accusing former President Jacob Zuma’s daughter of using her X social media platform to incite violence, which led to the death of more than 400 people and saw widespread looting in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.
The trial against Zuma-Sambudla is set to enter its second week after adjourning for two days last week.
In the first week, the State has argued that her social media posts spread terror and encouraged the looting of businesses in parts of the province.
State prosecutor Advocate Yuri Gangai also concluded leading evidence by Police Major General Gopal Govender, who was tasked to probe social media posts about the July riots.
Gopal told the court that he believes Zuma-Sambudla’s tweets sparked the violence.
The 43-year-old pleaded not guilty to the charges gainst her.
