Alleged underworld gang boss, Nafiz Modack, has continued to deny being involved in the attempted murder of prominent criminal defence attorney, William Booth, despite the evidence against him.
Modack and five co-accused face charges of attempted murder after Booth survived a shooting at his Higgovale home five years ago.
Modack admits he was hired to do a debt collection from one of Booth's clients but denies being behind the incident.
One of Modack's co-accused, Jacques Cronje, was arrested for allegedly threatening a former State witness who can only be identified as "Vallie" during a debt collection.
Cronje was arrested in April 2020 for violating a protection order granted to Booth on behalf of "Vallie".
State prosecutor, Greg Wolmarans, used evidence to show co-accused Zane Kilian started pinging Booth shortly after Cronje's arrest.
"And we also saw Booth's involvement that ultimately led to the arrest of your man Cronje on the second of April and then suddenly we see an explosion of pinging on Booth."
Modack is set to return to the dock on Wednesday for his cross-examination to proceed.
