Madlanga Commission: Mogotsi shares details of alleged assassination attempt on his life

Alleged Crime Intelligence agent, Brown Mogotsi, has told the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry that he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt by sheer luck.

In October, Mogotsi allegedly came under fire from gunmen traveling in a white bakkie on the N3 highway near Vosloorus on the East Rand.

Several bullets penetrated the vehicle Mogotsi was traveling in, raising questions about how he escaped unscathed.

Mogotsi has shared details before the inquiry on Wednesday afternoon about the alleged attempt on his life. 

"Those people followed me for so long. I thought they could not find me. When they saw my car, they fired the shots. I managed to drive, because they were driving at a speed, and turn left on a particular street. Fortunately, they passed to go make a U-turn, that’s when I ran for my life."

He said he was concerned when rumors surfaced that the incident was staged.

"But before I could even make a statement, they were saying 'this may be a staged assassination...' and that’s what made me very worried."
