President Cyril Ramaphosa has commended the country's successful hosting of the G20 Leaders' Summit, stating that it will solidify South Africa's role in international affairs.

Ramaphosa said the G20 summit will also go a long way in supporting Africa, the country's own growth, and create jobs for South Africans.

The first citizen was writing in his latest newsletter on Monday, following the conclusion of the two-day summit.

Ramaphosa added that with the leaders' summit being held on African soil for the first time, this milestone will place Africa's growth and development at the heart of the G20's agenda.

He said that South Africa can only achieve its own objectives of creating jobs in an environment of global stability, inclusive growth, and a level playing field.

Ramaphosa told the closing ceremony of the summit on Sunday that hosting the event will also place the continent and the global south at the forefront of development.

South Africa has used this presidency to place the priorities of Africa and the global south firmly at the heart of the G20 agenda.

Ramaphosa also mentioned that while some have sought to create "division and polarisation" between nations, the summit has reinforced what he calls the shared humanity among member nations.
