Hawks captain Dail Nortjie has concluded his testimony at the Madlanga Commission following a brief appearance on Tuesday morning.
His testimony focused on the arrest of alleged underworld figure Katiso “KT” Molefe.
Molefe was arrested during a raid by members of the Political Killings Task Team and Special Task Force in connection with the murder of Vereeniging engineer Armand Swart.
Previous testimony raised concerns over alleged interference by members of the Hawks during the raid at Molefe's Sandhurst home in December last year.
Nortjie said he was instructed to verify if the operation at Molefe’s premises was legitimate and that three separate Hawks teams were deployed to confirm this.
“On the 6th of December, which was on a Friday around 16:24, I received a call on my cellphone from Lt-Col Matlole, whereby we had to attend follow-up information with regard to people impersonating themselves as Hawks.”
The captain is one of three Hawks members scheduled to testify beforethe commission on Tuesday.
