South African Police Service (SAPS) chief financial officer, Puleng Dimpane, said there’s nothing unusual about the spending patterns of the political killings task team (PKTT).
Dimpane said the PKTT expenditure over the last few years was well within the norms of the police’s spending patterns.
She added that it was only normal for certain costs to be incurred, such as overtime and food for a team where members come from different parts of the country.

Dimpane is currently giving evidence before the Parliament ad hoc committee probing police corruption that is sitting at the Kgosi Mampuru Prison in Pretoria.
The committee is sitting at the prison in preparation for the testimony of Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala, who is incarcerated at the facility.
"The members of this task team are from various environments, and you need to accommodate as and when they go and operate in KwaZulu-Natal or operate elsewhere in the country, and you to also ensure that there is food as well as s&t (subsistence and travel) that is provided for them. They do work hard and claim overtime in this particular area, so it’s not anything strange."
