A Cape Town firefighter has been hailed a hero after saving a baby's life in Brackenfell.
Earlier this month, four-month-old Daniel began choking after his mother gave him medication for a fever.
On their way to the hospital, his parents stopped at the Brackenfell Fire Station for help.
Firefighter Arlin Thielman stepped in and stabilised the infant and organised an ambulance to rush him to hospital.
The family caught up with Thielman this week to thank him.
Safety and Security MMC JP Smith said they were relieved that Daniel has made a full recovery.
"I want to extend my sincere appreciation firefighter Thielman for his quick reaction which was the key to this very positive outcome. You're a credit to our fire and rescue service and I commend you for your heroic actions."
