A motion of no confidence against KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli will be heard in December.

The speaker of the provincial legislature, Nontembeko Boyce, has confirmed the debate will take place in a hybrid sitting on 15 December.

The motion was brought by the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK Party), citing financial mismanagement and failure by the seventh administration.

The MK Party's motion seeking to remove Thamsanqa Ntuli as premier has been included in the provincial legislature's order paper and will be heard in December.

Members of the provincial legislature (MPLs) were informed about the date during Thursday’s sitting.

The official opposition in the legislature said it wanted Ntuli out of his post, saying he was failing to lead.

Among other things, the party said that Ntuli failed to deliver on his promise of job opportunities, something which he has denied.

"The Stats SA has tabled the stats in terms of new job opportunities in KwaZulu-Natal. Fifty-four thousand new job opportunities have been realised,” he said.

The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), African National Congress (ANC), and Democratic Alliance (DA) have vowed to support Ntuli.

However, the National Freedom Party's (NFP) national executive council (NEC) and provincial executive committee (PEC) hold different views on the matter.
