The Eastern Cape High Court has ruled that apartheid security forces were behind the attack on patrons at the Highgate Hotel in East London.
The inquest into the 1993 attack wrapped up today in the High Court.
Five people were killed when assailants entered the Highgate Hotel bar on the first of May.
But despite the truth and reconciliation commission hearings, nobody took responsibility for the attack, and the belief lingered that the PAC’s military wing, Azanian People's Liberation Army, APLA, was behind it.

Today, Judge Denzil Potgieter ruled that the attack was intended to wrongly implicate APLA.
“The attack was meticulously planned and callously executed with the precision of highly trained operatives. Its consequences were lethal. They virtually destroyed the lives of the many affected parties who are left without redress. Its sheer wickedness is beyond comprehension.”
