The Limpopo Department of Transport is urging motorists to exercise caution, as roads are expected to be busier than usual this weekend.
This comes as Polokwane hosts three major events: the annual Festive of Lights celebrations, the Metro FM Heatwave, and the Carling Knockout Cup final.
Department spokesperson Tshifhiwa Dali said 79 law enforcement vehicles, 53 for traffic officers and 26 for SAPS (South African Police Service) members, have been deployed on major roads to enforce traffic laws and ensure safety.
"All road users should remember that their families need them, to avoid even a single drink before getting behind the wheel, to rest every two hours, to check tyres, brakes and lights, to slow down and to buckle up at all times"
