The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a warning that severe weather conditions are expected to persist well into the late evening across several provinces.
Heavy rains are expected in Gauteng, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga on Monday, with a chance of accompanying hail.
Motorists are urged to be extra cautious. The Weather Service is warning that damaging winds accompanying the rain could potentially knock down trees, leading to blocked roads.
Tshwane Emergency Services (EMS) Spokesperson Nana Radebe confirms that teams are on standby.
"The City of Tshwane’s Emergency Services Department has received a Yellow Level 2 weather warning for severe thunderstorms from the South African Weather Service. These weather conditions may result in widespread rainfall and severe thunderstorms, increasing risks of flooding and strong winds."
The approaching storm follows heavy rains last week that caused power outages in parts of Pretoria, which the City is still working to repair. Residents should prepare for potential disruptions.
