Witness assassination: Police hunt for second getaway vehicle

Police have confirmed they are on the hunt for a second vehicle believed to have been used during the assassination of one of the witnesses of the Madlanga Commission.
The witness, identified as Marius Van Der Merwe, was shot and killed at his Brakpan home on Friday evening.

Police say an AK-47 automatic rifle was used in the attack.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects used a white Chevrolet bakkie.
National Police Spokesperson Athlenda Mathe says the vehicle was found abandoned in Alexandra, north of Johannesburg.
She adds that three possible suspects are currently being questioned by police.
"It was found abandoned in Alexandra and our forensic experts are busy working on it, analysing what they can find on this particular vehicle, but we are positive that it is the white Chevrolet bakkie that was used on that night. We are looking for another vehicle, a sedan hatchback, we believe that vehicle was transporting those that pulled the trigger."
