Murder-accused mother Tiffany Nicole Meek is set to appear at the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Meek faces charges related to the murder of her 11-year-old son, Jayden Lee Meek, whose body was discovered a few metres from their apartment in Fleurhof last year.

The child’s mother had initially reported him missing after he allegedly failed to return home from school on 13 May 2025.

Just hours later, the boy’s partially clothed body was found by a tenant who then alerted a security guard at Swazi’s Place, west of Johannesburg.

Jayden’s death sparked widespread outrage, with community members calling for justice after the discovery of his body.

Meek was arrested two months after her son was found.

Her arrest was met with anger from residents, many of whom said they felt betrayed after supporting her during the search for the missing child.

During her bail application, the investigating officer in the case argued that Meek would not be safe if she were released, citing strong community hostility.

Meek has remained in custody for approximately eight months after her bail was denied in September.

The matter is expected to move to the pre-trial stage.
