Parly sanctions Fadiel Adams for nonconsensual publishing of personal info of DA member

Parliament has sanctioned National Coloured Congress (NCC) member of Parliament (MP) Fadiel Adams for placing the personal information of a Democratic Alliance (DA) staff member on social media without consent.

Adams will now have to apologise and have a sizeable portion of his salary docked for posting the staff members information, after the DA laid a complaint against him with Parliament’s Joint Ethics Committee.

Adams posted the information after the DA voted against a motion that was tabled by his party earlier in 2025.

DA chief whip George Michalakis, in his complaint, said thar he had instructed a staff member to object to a motion without notice that was circulated by the NCC.

In its report, the Joint Ethics Committee said it then came to Michalakis’ attention that Adams subsequently made a social media post on Facebook, which contained a screenshot of the email drafted by the staff member.

He said the email included personal details of the staff member.

Michalakis also stated that the publication of the staff member’s personal details is an “assault on the staff member’s dignity, right to privacy and the right to have his personal information kept safe and secure”

The committee has now sanctioned Adams with a reprimand in the House that he must apologise in the house.

Adams will also have his salary and allowances reduced by an amount equal to 20 days.

The NCC leader will also be suspended from his seat in the parliamentary debates and committees for a period of 20 parliamentary days.
