Mbalula: ANC policies have 'dismantled apartheid-era exclusions' and advanced equality

The African National Congress (ANC) asserts that the policies it has implemented at the government level have made significant strides in eradicating the legacy of apartheid and advancing its agenda for an equal South Africa.
The party cited expanded access to water, electricity, and education for groups that were historically oppressed under apartheid as key successes.
While youth unemployment remains high, the ANC highlighted that access to higher education for young people is currently at its highest levels since the dawn of democracy.
On Wednesday marks day three of the party’s National General Council (NGC), which acts as a midterm review of its progress in implementing the resolutions adopted at its last elective conference (the 55th National Elective Conference of 2022).
Speaking at a media briefing on Wednesday, ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula stated that the party’s midterm report shows that its deployees in government have made notable progress.
“The Global Gender Gap report 2025 ranks South Africa first in the world for women’s enrolment in primary, secondary, and tertiary education — a direct outcome of ANC policies that widened access and dismantled apartheid-era exclusions.”
