Gift of the Givers has deployed emergency water tankers to the communities of Zoar and Ladismith in the Western Cape so residents do not have a dry Christmas.

The organisation says the provincial government and Garden Route District Municipality requested the assistance.

The area is currently experiencing drought conditions and infrastructure shortfalls.

The issues with the water infrastructure and depleting reservoirs have made the water unsafe to drink.

Now Gift of the Givers has purchased three water tankers and other necessary equipment to ensure residents have water.

Founder Imtiaz Sooliman says their specialists are assessing the situation for long-term solutions as well.

“Gift of the Givers teams have managed to get three boreholes fully functional in the Ladismith area. Our teams have been there for days delivering water to Zoar and people around Ladismith. We had committed to the Kannaland municipality that we would get three boreholes functioning as well as fix the pumps and pipes.” He added.
