SASSA confirms grant payment dates for January 2026

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) confirms the schedule for January grant payments.

* Older Persons Grant – Tuesday, 6 January 2026 

* Disability Grant – Wednesday, 7 January 2026 

* Children’s Grants – Thursday, 8 January 2026 

* Social Relief of Distress Grant payments are made in batches from 7 January.  

SASSA reminds beneficiaries that biometric verification is crucial for securing public funds. 

The process cross-references data from the Department of Home Affairs to confirm identification through fingerprints or facial recognition.

The current grant payment amounts are as follows:

Older Persons Grant: R2,320; R2,340 for age 75 and over

Disability Grant: R2,320

War Veterans Grant: R2,340

Care Dependency Grant: R2,320

Foster Care Grant: R1,250

Child Support Grant: R560

Child Support Top-Up: R280

Social Relief of Distress Grant: R370
