33 undocumented children who were intercepted at the Beitbridge Border have been placed in the care of the social development department.
The Border Management Authority says the minors, aged between four and 15 years, were found in a vehicle which was travelling from South Africa to Zimbabwe on Tuesday.
BMA spokesperson Mmemme Mogotsi said two foreign nationals were arrested for facilitating the illegal movement of the children.
"All 33 minor children were immediately handed over to the department of social development for further processing, in line with child protection protocols and South Africa’s domestic and international obligations to safeguard vulnerable persons."
