International correspondent Adam Gilchrist explains that rescue teams have pulled 12 injured people from the debris, but authorities fear up to 20 others may still be missing beneath tonnes of waste.
"It's not just a few packets and some old crisp wrappers or something. It really is just mounds of rotting rubbish mixed up with earth and rainwater, and you name it."
Gilchrist says four days into the search operation, hopes of finding survivors are fading as crews continue to dig through the unstable debris.
