More exercise, better sleep and healthier habits often form part of people's new year resolutions... and you might need to look no further than your kitchen cabinet for your perfect wellness partner.
Friday marks International Rooibos Day, and we're being encouraged to pop the kettle on and enjoy a cup (or two), of the local favourite.
Lize du Preez is the marketing director at Carmien Tea, and says rooibos is an integral part of our lives in South Africa.
"It is seen as a symbol of South African heritage."
But more than that, it can help form part of a healthy and balanced diet.
"It is rich in antioxidants that help fight inflammation. Drinking rooibos, in conjunction with a healthy lifestyle, improves heart health and blood glucose levels."
It can even help those dealing with certain skin conditions like ezcema, acne and sunburn.
And for those looking to stave of the signs of ageing? A cup of rooibos could be your solution.
"It's known have anti-ageing properties... and can even aid in sleep."
