Ramaphosa says assessment of flood-hit provinces ongoing

President Cyril Ramaphosa says government is still assessing the full extent of infrastructure damage in Limpopo and Mpumalanga caused by recent floods.
At least 37 people have died in the two provinces in the last two weeks after heavy rains battered several communities.
The inclement weather has since been classified as a national disaster, allowing the government to mobilise additional resources to respond to the impact of the floods.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Basic Education Lekgotla in Boksburg, Ramaphosa said government entities are working together to initiate the recovery efforts.
"The government system now, through the inter-ministerial committee and Natjoints, is now coming into gear to see what the damage is and what needs to be done on a unified basis."
