KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Hawks head Major-General Lesetja Senona is expected to testify before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria.
Senona and his son, Thato, have been linked to criminally accused tender tycoon Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala.
The commission previously heard that Thato Senona had business interests with Matlala and that the pair had a potential property deal in place.
Senona will be expected to respond to allegations of a questionable relationship with Matlala.
Last year, Crime Intelligence head Dumisani Khumalo presented evidence showing WhatsApp exchanges between Matlala and Senona.
Matlala allegedly requested FICA documents from Senona for his son, Thato.
In one instance, Senona referred to Matlala as “brother”, raising questions about a potentially corrupt relationship with the man accused of capturing the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD).
Madlanga Commission Spokesperson Jeremy Michaels said while they cannot, in most instances, reveal who will be appearing before the commission ahead of time, with Senona it is different.
He"appeared briefly before the commission on 26 November, and Justice Madlanga ordered that the major-general must appear and be ready to testify on Tuesday, 27 January." he said.
