Bellarmine Mugabe leaves SA after paying R600k fine

Bellarmine Mugabe left South Africa just before 6pm on Wednesday, following a court order for his immediate deportation.
His lawyer, Sinenhlanhla Mnguni, confirmed that all immigration processes were finalised ahead of his departure.
Mugabe left the Alexandra Magistrate's Court earlier, escorted by a police escort as part of a convoy to OR Tambo International Airport.
The 29-year-old first-time offender was fined a total of R600,000 or face a three-year jail sentence for pointing an object resembling a firearm and contravening immigration laws.

His cousin and co-accused, Tobias Matonhodze, received an effective three-year prison sentence on four charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition and attempted murder.
The case relates to a shooting incident that took place at a residence in Hyde Park in February this year.
"He's going through immigration, so we're waiting for him to board his flight. His flight is at 18:45..." said Mnguni.
