DStv has lowered the upfront cost of its decoder, announced additional channels for its entry-level package, and introduced a new split-payment feature to retain customers.
The changes were announced on Tuesday, as temporary package upgrades offered during the festive period come to an end.
MultiChoice, owned by France’s Canal+, said the focus now shifts to permanent product changes rather than short-term promotions.
“What matters now is how DStv fits into people’s lives month after month,” said MultiChoice CEO Willington Ngwepe.
New features include:
- Three new, permanent channels have been added to DStv’s Access package: Trace Ngoma (formerly Trace Africa), Trace Gospel, and WWE.
- A new split payment feature via the MyDStv app allows the primary account holder to share the cost of a single subscription with another person.
Lower decoder pricing has also been extended to 30 April.
The HD Single View decoder will now cost R499 (R799 with installation), the Explora 3B decoder now costs R1,499, while the Explora Ultra is priced at R2,999.
“We want customers to have options that make it easier to stay connected, even when budgets are tight,” said Ngwepe.
