Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero has cautioned political parties in the city against what he describes as the politicisation of service delivery.
Morero is facing a motion of no confidence in the City Council on Thursday, which was tabled by the Al Jama-ah party. The party says the motion is based on its view that Morero has failed to improve service delivery.
In his address to the council, Morero emphasised that service delivery should not be used to settle political scores. He maintained that the city is seeing tangible improvements under his leadership.
"The Joburg grime is slowly disappearing and there is law and order in the city. Through the mayoral high impact service delivery programme, we are seeing change and we should not politicise service delivery."
