The attorney of the former Public Enterprises Minister, Malusi Gigaba, said more charges could be added against his client.
Gigaba appeared before the Palm Ridge Magistrates court on Friday, over a charge of corruption related to a controversial locomotive deal during his tenure.
He appeared alongside Transnet executives Brian Molefe, Siyabonga Gama, Anoj Singh, and engineer Thamsanqa Jiyane.
"There are two charges, charges can be supplemented, I don’t want to go into details about the charges, but the charges can be supplemented right up until the day of trial," explained Gigaba’s attorney, Nicholas Krouis
Spokesperson for the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), Henry Mamothame, said for now, they only have one charge against Gigaba.
"At this point, it’s only one charge, which relates to what we allege was gratification on certain amounts that he received, so at this point we are going with one charge that is reflected on the indictment."
The matter has been transferred to the Johannesburg High Court for 19 February 2026.
