Fitness dates are becoming a popular alternative to traditional Valentine’s celebrations, with couples bonding through shared workouts, outdoor adventures and group classes.

Fitness and wellness coach Juanita Khumalo says it's about shared values and passion.

"It's only natural for me to buy you a gift that aligns to your favourite hobby."

She says there's been a rise in people living health-conscious lifestyles, which has led to a new trend called 'dry dating'.

"It's about connecting without alcohol... fitness dating is also an alcohol-free, dry dating alternative that aligns with these wellness-focused priorities."

Khumalo says fitness dates are also an efficient way to spend time with your partner, while getting your daily exercise.

"Our schedules are so busy... so what's the best way for us to kill two birds with one stone?"
