ActionSA rejects appointment of Xolani Khumalo as Ekurhuleni MMC

ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba has said the party was never consulted before Ekurhuleni mayor Doctor Xhakaza appointed its mayoral candidate Xolani Khumalo to his mayoral committee.

Last night, Xhakaza announced sweeping changes to his cabinet, naming Khumalo as the MMC for community services and by-law enforcement.

However, ActionSA has rejected the appointment, saying it does not want to be associated with what it calls the corrupt ANC-led government in the city.

Mashaba said appointing Khumalo without consulting the party was an act of sheer disrespect.

"We don’t want to be disrespected. We are a political party with our own values and condition. You don’t just appoint our councillors to an executive position without involving our party. It’s total distortion and we reject it with the contempt it deserves," said Mashaba.
